This delightful dessert takes an added twist with a variety of fruits and pomegranate based sauces from MarXana Brand Foods. Here we give you several options for the basic recipe that can be a delicious surprise every time you serve it up to guests, family and friends.
1 angel food cake, store bought
2 tbs MarXana Brand Foods Pomegranate Based Reduction Sauce***
1.5 Lbs strawberries, washed, paper towel dried, hulled and quartered***
whipped cream, ice cream, or vanilla yogurt***
***Here you have several options. You can use strawberries as suggested, fresh or dried blueberries, fresh or dried cherries (stones removed), fresh or dried plums, even fresh pomegranate seeds. Place fruit selection or similar combination of fruit in a bowl and toss with the pomegranate reduction sauce. Here again you can use a flavor to match the fruit or some combination. You can select from Shiro Plum Sake, Tart Cherry Syrah, Blueberry Merlot, Pomegranate Port, Mission Fig and so on. Cover and allow flavors to meld together in the bowl for a half hour before using.
Heat outdoor grill to medium-high temperature. Slice the angel food cake into roughly 6 wedges and when grill is hot place the slices on the grill until toasty and then turn over approximately 2 1/2 to 3 minutes per side.
Place the angel food cake wedges on individual plates and equally spoon on the fruit tossed with the juices on top of each slice. Complete the serving with a dash of whip cream, vanilla ice cream or vanilla non-fat, low-fat or plain yogurt and serve immediately.
