Pomegranate Splash!
Pomegranate Based Culinary Sauces
                             Shiro Plum Sake Soy Sauce

This sauce takes the best flavor of shiro plums, pomegranate, sake, and soy sauce and blends them into a sauce that is as good for sushi as it is a marinade and a finishing sauce. Best on salmon and firm white fleshed fish.

3 tbs   soy sauce
3 tbs   Shiro Plum Sake Reduction Sauce by MarXana Brand Foods***
3 tbs   water
3 tbs   Japanese cooking wine (Mirin)
          cornstarch

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a small non-reactive sauce pan and bring to a quick boil. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
  2. Option 1: If using as a marinade place fish fillets in a baggie. Pour in cooled sauce. Press out as much air as possible and refrigerate for at least an hour or two. Remove the fish from the baggie and grill basting with remaining sauce in the baggie.
  3. Option 2: The ingredients can easily be made into a dipping sauce or a thickened sauce to pour over the fish by adding a pinch of cornstarch to a teaspoon of water until dissolved then whisking it into the boiling mixture. Reduce heat, allow the sauce to slightly thicken and remove from heat.
  4. Option 3: Use the thickened sauce for sushi. You can also add or mix with wasabi as another great way to enjoy this sauce.
